CORE ACTIVITIES

Our Core Activities

The company’s core activity is the specialization in the deep-sea bulk trade operating a modern fleet with up to date equipment ensuring maximum flexibility, timed delivery, fast and efficient cargo handling.Equinox Maritime has been concentrating on Supramax and Ultramax vessels and is looking to increase its fleet size with further new building contracts of new eco designs and second hand tonnage.

The Company currently manages a total of 21 vessels, including vessels owned by related companies, as well as, third party clients out of which 15 are under technical and commercial management and 6 are only under technical management. The fleet consists of 16 Supramax-Ultramax vessels, four Kamsarmaxes and one handysize vessel. Most of the vessels have been ordered by their owners as New Buildings, namely from Brodosplit Shipyard in Croatia, Mitsui Shipyard, Tsuji Shipyard and Nacks Shipyard in China which is a fifty-fifty Joint venture between Kawasaki and Cosco.

In 2015 the first two Ultramaxes from Nacks were delivered. The second couple of Ultramaxes were delivered during the first half of 2016 from Dacks shipyard. Dacks Shipyard, is also a fifty-fifty joint venture between Kawasaki and Cosco. The latest additions to the fleet was in 2023 the MV Equinox Sofrano.

Quality and Safety

The Company is a management company of ocean trading ships, and in order to ensure safety at sea, prevention of human injury or loss of life, avoidance of damage to the environment and to property, considers of paramount importance the safe operation of all ships under its management. The Safety Management System has been audited by The Cayman Islands registry and complies with the International Maritime Code for Safe Operations of Ships and for Pollution Prevention (ISM Code). The company is proud to be awarded a QUALSHIP 21 certificate by the US Coast Guard.
